League, our children have supervision the best my wife and I can provide. 99.9% of the time there's no issues here. We can't possible open/close the door each and every time we're doing things with the children....no need to go overboard on a lecture of supervision vs. non-supervision here.
The kids play area is away from the garage entrance and to the back...to say that I'd have to keep the garage door closed at all times is to imprison us in our own homes and property...we're not going to do that...things happen and fortunately this was a scenario with a happy ending...
This kind of an event is not common place around our neighborhood so to suggest I imprison the kids over this event by making them close/open the garage door when playing/not playing might actually leave the little one out in the "cold" so-to-speak if one of the two older children wasn't aware.
I don't see the need to get the conversation to a point where I'm looking for advice on how to watch my kids and have house rules changed...if you know our neighborhood and where our house is situated you'd save yourself some typing.
