I don't think of romantic comedies, such as "When Harry Did Sally", as necessarily chick-flicks. To me a chick-flick is something like "The English Patient" or even "Chicago".
Great: I can't think of any, as I avoid anything I feel falls into that genre.
Tolerable: Why tolerate them. If she says,"If you love me, you'll watch it" I respond, "If you love me you wouldn't ask me to do this".
Unwatchable: Since I find them all unwatchable, here is what tells me something is a chick-flick:
- Stars Barbara Streisand, Bette Midler, or any of several other annoying women
- All the guys in the film are "pretty boys"
- The previews do not have any explosions
- The theme music is not rock, country or rap
- Just a gut feeling any guy should possess
