Difference being, that player won't catch Tiger. Sure, he's 8 away, but he'll most likely break the record, barring anything untoward happening to him. And I would put my money right now on the fact that should Jack become number 2 on the all-time major championships list, nobody will catch him.

Tiger is a once-in-a-lifetime athlete, as in the lifetime of planet earth. He's not God, but he's as close as a golfer will ever come.
