Try the Coronado Golf course (about 10 miles away). It won't cost a fortune, and is a fun track. There are no courses in the Mission Bay area. You can also go up to Torrey Pines, but be prepared to pay $140, get there very early to sign up as a single, and wait a while to get out.

It is winter here in Washington so it will have been about five months since I picked up my clubs and in addition to that I am a mediocre to borderline poor (but improving) golfer. However, I am serious about the game and am respectful of whoever I end up playing with. With that said I am looking for a course that is not too pretentious where whoever I get paired up with will be more likely to forgive my occassional (ok maybe frequent) shot out to left field but I do want a nice course though - after all I am going to be on vacation and I don't mind paying a bit for a nice round of golf. I will probably be able to play mid-week if that makes any difference.
So, anyone have any recommendations on some good courses for me that are close to the Mission Bay area? Thanks.
