Hitting 300 yard drives is only enviable if you can hit them straight. When your driving game is off you can get into a lot more trouble when your long drives go wayward. I've even started using my 3 iron off the tee most of the time now which gives me about 230-260 down the middle 80% of the time, which I MUCH prefer to 300 yard drives scattered everywhere.
