There was an article in the New York Times several years ago about Tiger being guarded in interviews because when he was unscripted, he was too much of a smart aleck. There was concern he wouldn't appeal to a mass audience. Perhaps he, his advisors or the companies he endorses think it's best to err on the side of caution and have him not speak at all depending on how he's played.
