Re: Swing help needed

I believe you set up is the main issue. Your arms are to far apart at address which causes your right elbow to fly out, forcing a lift on your backswing verses a rotation of the upper body. That is why you club is closed at position one when the toe should be straight up."position 1 is when the club is parallel to the ground for the first time" The steep back swing forces you to only come over the top because you never put the club on plane and causes the chicken wing at address. Your swing can be fixed pretty easer as you the start of a nice move on the down swing.

I would do the David Leadbetter drill and put a small ball or balloon between your elbows and make sure you open the club face on the backswing so the toe is up at position 1.

Once you hit enough balls to get you backs wing on plane than step two would be to discuss the transition down. But at this time it will not make an difference until you address the back swing.

My 2 cents. Just to let you know I am a 1 handicap who is a range rat living in South Florida playing golf 4 times a week all year round.........i work with a lot of golfers so i am pretty good on picking up on what needs to be addressed first............good luck.......rick dimarzio
