Face finish wear is OK as long as the grooves are still deep; To wear out the grooves on your wedge, you'll have to hit hundreds of golf balls a day for weeks and in to wear the grooves down.
I'd think either it's time to get a new wedge because it'll make you happy, or you need the fill the gap of your current set up.
Wedge is a very personal tool just like a putter, you must like it when you hold it and looking down at it when you address the golf ball, and of course it'll have to perform well for you as you set up for different shot during different situation. Many good wedge out there to go through.
Have fun looking for it

With the R7's I have they come with a 55* SW .
Anyway I just got back from buying a 50* and a 60* Vokey.
I tried both the Cleveland and the Titliest and found I like the weight of the Vokey a liitle better (heavier) so I think I'm all set now.
Now I'm regripping my new R7's that had two rounds at a simulator.

TM iron grips.
