I've been replacing all my clubs slowly over the last few years as the clubs I was using were really old. I hadn't really been playing that much for 6 or 7 years so hadn't bought anything new for a long time. The 1 iron is the last of the old clubs to go. The reason for replacing it is that it's the least user friendly club I have by a long way. When all my clubs were old I didn't notice a difference but now it's very noticable. It's a Ping Eye 2 so it's out of date by quite a few years. Hopefully I can find a good hybrid to replace it.
