I have been told many times to use the 7 iron because thats the easiest, but I resist the advice and try to learn myself to chip with the wedge.
The issue with chipping with the s-wedge is that when I'm not close to the whole It gets difficult to find the right backswing length and Imagining the roll its going to get.
What do you prefer? One short chip swing and control the distances with clubs or going with feel and touch and use higher lofted clubs?

More factors have to be considered. How much green do you have to work with? How fast is the green? How does the green slope? Are you in fairway or rough... if rough, how deep and how thick? I could use anything from 8I - SW depending on the situation. I've even started carrying my LW for certain special situations. I might even use my 25° hybrid in the right circumstances.
