I really like Bobby Clampett's take on this: however you do it you have to get your hands ahead of the ball at impact. Hands ahead of the ball results in divots that bottom out in front of the ball, not behind like you have now. Clampett's point is that however you get the club to the impact position is just your style -- one plane, two plane, nine plane, large weight shift, no weight shift, all arms, dead arms, etc. etc. -- it doesn't matter what your personal style is. But, you have to get the hands ahead of the ball at impact and have divots that bottom out in front of the ball.
I personally wouldn't worry about body out racing the arms or whatever -- just concentrate on getting those arms ahead of the ball at impact.
