My golf buddy used Intelligolf on a PDA for a couple of years. It does seem like nice software.

We just use our web phones and my site to keep score while playing now. There is nothing to install/download/upload/sync/etc...you're just on the web and entering scores on the site as you play. It's easy and cheap to get unlimited web access now. I've been entering scores on my cell phones for the past few seasons and enjoy doing it. I just haven't been able to get very many people to use the system yet. It's too bad because I like to watch as people play when I'm just at home surfing the web.
