Re: My golf diary- Max Iron 060508

Any progress of late on the long game Avatar? What do you struggle with?

Had a fantastic round today, this is really a training diary but I have to include this round.

I am as you know a 29,5 handicapper, but today I played well enough on 9 holes that I have to drop down to 28,5, and with two holes I didn*t get any points on.

I made some mistakes along the way, and dropping only 1 hc doesn't seem so fantastic but my ball striking was beyond anything I have ever done.

I didn't top a single shot and I didn't duff a single either. My rythm and tempo was amazing, It felt like I could do it all day. But eventually I messed my tempo up but it gave me and incredible lesson, to just how important it is for proper impact.

Short game was a little bit below what I can do at my best but my long game was absolutely dead on. I still had my out to in swing path but much reduced and generally I struck the ball very well.

We played with two older guys who had played for 5 years or so. The one guy gave me so much compliments for my swing I was almost getting embarrassed. He said it was so loose and beautiful to watch and that it looked like I was coiling perfectly and unwinding perfectly.

He also said I was going to be a great golfer and that my swing already was in the better part of any of the members of my local golfclub.

I have never experienced this kind of compliments so it was just the perfect spice to a round with solid ballstriking.

I know now that I can play better than bogey golf and with constant rythm and better short game I will get there. It was so encouraging because I have been struggling of late..
