Re: How much further does 3-wood go compared to your longest iron?

Thats how I like to think. If I feel comfortable with swinging fast I should do so.

I have seen a lot of golfers with what I call a "half" swing that hit the ball solidly and straight.

I have always had somewhat of a long and loose swing but I have not been willing to change that, as long as it's not longer than parallel.

A longer swing will give me the instruments to shorten it if I need to and close distance gaps + give me more clubhead speed and distance that makes it easier to be comfortable.
For instance if I can hit to a green with a 4 iron when a player with a 3 wood has the same yardage to the pin, who will have more control?

So I think its going to pay of dividends in the end, although it might be tempting to learn a much shorter and slower swing.
