The pro I am taking lessons from (along with Ben Hogan in his immortal book on the golf swing) suggest the swing is the same for irons and woods - you just set up farther away with the longer clubs. He also suggests that a 5 iron is set up in the middle of the feet and as you work your way up your clubs towards your woods, the ball moves forward in your stance (so your driver is inside the front foot).
