Teaching Alignment and Setup to New golfer

My teen is new to the game but his swing is prettty good. He hits to the right a lot no slice just hits to the right. Gets it up in the air nice consistently hits about around 200 yds.

I have been having him setup and then I put a club at his toes sometimes to show him were he is really pointing.

Also I notice he takes a nice practice swing then when he moves up to the ball he tends to move the club up to the ball more than his feet so he ends up reaching sometimes. I had him take his practice swing standnign behind the ball then just walk up and hit. This helps on drives but with irons in the grass I think you need to take you practice swing next to the ball to get a feel for the lie angle.

Any teaching tips would be appreciated.
