jcgolfpro - thanks for the info about the chemicals. I've always used this "cigar holder thing" which clips on the bag.

And I agree about cigar butts and cigarette butts on the course. No excuse for them! If I can't find a can to drop the cigar in after I'm done, I'll "field strip" (military service lingo?) it and leave it for the forest gods, where I can usually be found. The little that is left of it I think is bio-degradeable.
