shootin4par, maybe the old fellow is remembering when his body allowed him to swing as you do and to achieve similar results. All things being equal, I'd rather be young than old, with all of the natural infirmities that result. The old guy is envious of your youth and the seemingly endless possibilities that lie ahead of you in golf and in life. Don't be irritated; be thankful that you're young--and good.
