I am going out this morning and right now it is 37* out, I don't know what that equates to in centigrade, something around -204? Anyway, it's cold. Here in the PNW it gets cold and wet in about late September so if you are going to try and play year round get used to it.

For me I try and hit a ball with a little less height, not on purpose all the time but for me the more roll the better. Losing a plugged ball is something that irks me more then most things golf related.
