New Section under The Clubhouse - Playing Partners
I'd like to propose a new section where you can try and hook up with other Golf Rewind member in your area/region. I've seen this on other boards and it's a handy way to get some folks together to meet in person rather than trying to track down who's from where, etc.
An example post would be for around my area:
Title: Saturday 12/03/05 - Cedarbook Gold
Message:
Looking for partners, I have a 10:10 tee time on the Gold Course, please respond as soon as possible...I have two more openings.
I've been able to get to know folks from our tri-state area quite easily through a Playing Partner area...still hold friendships with folks from Buffalo and Columbus are the State College area.
C'mon down man, greens and cart fees are on me (well, not literally)....j/k no can do, it's Christmas Tree cutting down time with the family, they all run around trying to pick the best tree, we fuss about pictures and then get to watch daddy cut the tree down and yelling at the kids to get out of the way, timber...and watch me drag that sucker back to get twined and loaded on the SUV...I knew you wanted to know what I was doing this Saturday...LOL
My dad and his brothers planted thousands of Christmas trees on my grandparents land a while back and we get one every year from out of there. It's still one of my favorite things to do. One of the best things that happened when my parents (with an assist from my sister and I...they figured they might as well use us up while they had us ) built a new house a couple years ago was that the ceilings are higher than the old one so we can get a bigger tree!!
On a less thread-jacking note, how far are you from Butler? Are there any nice courses in that area? It's about an hour from here, so maybe in the spring sometime we can meet up down there.
I'm 10 minutes from the southern end of Butler County...actually I think a fair one of distance b/w us would be in Mercer, ever hear of Rolling Hills in Pulaski? Nice course, fair on the pocket book too! Been years though since I played there, here it's still kept nice!
Nope, I've actually never heard of it. I'm a student at Clarion so that's where I spend my winter and spring months...hence the hour's drive to Butler. It's actually about 2.5 hours to there from my home town. Other than in my high school matches, I haven't had many chances to play a lot of courses within the northwestern part of the state, and even in those matches, most of them aren't what I'd call good tracks. A few were nice private courses, like Wanango in Franklin and Lake View in Erie, so that was a positive I suppose.
Oh my fault for some reason I had you West of I-79, Clarion Univ...ok. Butler's not too deep in courses, I like Stoughten Acres (family run course), cheap, no swearing though...seriously, they're real religious, how can they catch you though!
Is it a bust to get down to Route 28? There's a fine course called Birdsfoot in Freeport.
Actually, no that's not bad at all. I traveled down that way earlier this fall, so I think I could avoid getting lost this time. Looks like a nice course.
Upon further review, I moved this to the announcement/help desk section. This is where suggestions are to be placed. No biggie, it'll actually help Victory see it more easily once he gets back around here.
It is, though a bit pricey, we can hook up on off-peak or weekday. I don't like #18, has a split fairway, left is dead and right is no bargain either...poorly designed hole, other than that it's well kept and run by nice people (rangers included).
You'd be coming down thru New Bethlehem (Rt 66) over to 28 right?
More than likely I'll be available off-peak and weekdays...my schedule is fairly light next semester. Yeah, rte. 66 to 28...exactly the way I forgot to come down the last time I went that way.
