Use of avatar

Victory, thanks for the effort you put into this site. When will the use of avatars be allowed? Kind of a nice personal statement to use. Contact me and I can let you know where to get several hundred from a fourm I use for my profession. At least I think you should be able to copy the avatars there.

drstroud, I have enabled the use of avatars on this site. Now, you can upload your own personal avatar as long as it's not more than 100x100 pixels in size.

You can do a search for them or reduce any gif, jpg or bmp to the appropriate size.

I have an avatar that is more of a PG-13. A little risque, but nice to look at. Can I give it a run Vic?

Sure, you can use it as long as it's "PG-13."

Hey Forged . . . not sure what kind of avatar you're looking for, but I was bored tonight and made this one. Please don't feel obligated to use it, I was just foolin' around.

I have none of lwc's avatar-making skills (which I admire!). Here's what I did to get my avatar.

I went to www.google.com and did a search for "avatars". I got links to many avatar sites, but a lot of the avataris I didn't like or they seemed to cost money. So then I did a search for "free avatars" and found the smiling guy I'm currently using. I right-clicked on the image and copied it to my hard drive. From there I fiddled with the image to get it down to 100x100 pixels (maximum size allowable; I would have gone smaller but couldn't figure out how to shrink it; all I could do was crop off portions of the face). From there I uploaded it to my profile.

Personally, I like having an actual face (not my own, for a couple of reasons!) as my avatar. My readers will always have someone smiling at them, which I like. Also, this particular face (whoever he is) seems like such a nice guy that it inspires me to be my best self in my posts. However, there are lots of other neat ways of handling one's avatar, as shown on this site.

Jim's avatar adventure

I'm sure that members will benefit from your post in their search for avatars.

Not using one's own face is probably a smart thing. I mean these guys with Photoshop capabilities can take a face and do almost anything with it. How embarassing if your face ended up on some porno stud and your wife's best friend found it! Yikes!

If you're a porno stud, your face ends up in an ad for AIDS medication. :(
