Intros & Greets

Victory,

I was noticing that quite a few new members are joining without posting in the "Introductions and Greets" section. Maybe if you changed the type to bold they might read the explanation for the section. Just a thought. It is a part of this forum that makes this place more personal and friendly. What is your, or anybody elses, thoughts?

Intros

I agree that it would be nice if everyone introduced him/herself and provided a little detail about his/her game, life, interests, etc. But, some people are shy and rightfully wary about giving out personal information online.

I have also noticed that some folks don't seem to know how to start their own thread and just tack on their intro to someone else's thread. Having been around to other golf forums and not yet familiar with the culture of kindness here at Golf Rewind, perhaps some are concerned that they would open themselves up to ridicule if their handicap was too high or their equipment was not top of the line.

You bring up a very good point, ForgeRbest, and perhaps there are some things that we could do to encourage more people to post an intro; but the botton line probably is that you just can't make people introduce themselves.

Yeah, your probably right. If they are shy it will just take time, and by then there is no need to post an intro.

The main thing I have is an "announcement" for all new members who haven't posted yet. It says something like, "Hi, welcome to Golf Rewind. Since you haven't made your first post yet, you may want to introduce yourself in the "Introductions and Greets" forum." It will display for all members who haven't posted yet even if they have been a member for a while.
