Would a chat room on the site totally defeat the idea of the Forum, or is it something you've considered? Personally, I think it would add another "dimension" to an already top-notch site.
Thoughts? Ideas?

I have tossed around the idea of a chat room on the forum. The question is, would it be open 24/7 or would it just be open for certain events? I think if I were to put a chat room up, I would want it to be an active feature of the site as opposed to something that only gets 2 or 3 people in there during peak times.
If everyone else would also like to see a chat room, please sound off here.
I would like that, well at least to try it and see how much participation there would be. Might be more fun then a private message, but it may have to be strictly monitored. Chat rooms are a good place for instant flame wars to erupt.

If all the future newcomers are like the current members, a Chat Room would be a good thing. However, that's highly unlikely, and I think a Chat Room would be opening a door that could lower the quality of Golfrewind. I'm not totally against it, but does the benefit outweigh the risk? "If its not broke...don't fix it!"
I'd like to have one. I'm a moderator on another forum that has a chat feature. We've had almost no problems considering how much it has added to the sense of community there.
I used to frequent another golf forum that had a chat room, and guys were forever posting on the General Board, "Where are the chatters?" It seems that the Chat Room was empty most of the time. It certainly was every time I went there. That forum had a larger membership than we have at present, so I doubt that a chat room would be worth the effort right now.
I log onto other forums, not golf-related, that have chat rooms. I don't use them, but the feedback I hear is that the novelty wears off rather quickly leaving people to ask "where all the chatters have gone." JMHO
Personally I'm an "old dog" and like the forum as is.
