Quick Reply and your connection speed

One feature of this forum I use most often is the Quick Reply field. I rarely ever click "Reply" to respond to someone's post. Sometimes, I get irritated that it doesn't have all of the features of a full reply field. So I have set this poll to see if anyone would like more features added to the Quick Reply.

The problem with adding them is connection speed. I want to see what kind of connection speed most of our members use and what you think of the loading times.

Victory,

every site I hook up to is 3 mb/sec. high speed. Hope this helps. I have not had any problems doing the normal reply thing.

Reply vs Quick Reply

I use the Quick Reply mode if the member I'm replying to is still on-line. If they're off-line I just use the Reply mode. I don't know what my connect speed is but both modes seem about the same on my end.

as juvenile as it seems, the only thing I'd like to see is the little smiley faces......otherwise I like using the quick reply......ironically enough, I find it to be a quick way to make a reply (see, here is where I'd love a smiley)

Well, I decided to add the smilies because all of the poll respondents (to this point) favored it and it doesn't take more code if I use the pop up window.

Enjoy! Using the smilie window right now, actually.

From my office, where I have a fast connection, I usually click "Reply" to add to a thread, so I can have the smilies available if I want them.

From home, where I have a dial-up connection, I'll often (but not always) use the Quick Reply field. Even though it presents fewer options, I don't mind it. Helps me cover ground faster.

I guess the bottom line for me is that I can live with things the way they are. If I want an improvement, I should get a better connection at home. So whatever you decide on this is fine with me.

The smilie box wasn't always there. I just added it less than an hour ago. It's the only addition to Quick Reply so load time changes shouldn't be noticeable even for dial up users.

Cool

Now if I could just get my wife, kids, patients, neighbors, friends........to take care of me like that, I'd be lovin' it!

Thanks!
