From posting on other forums and being a mod I know that in this version of VB that you can do rep points and in my op. its a cool idea. So if we could do rep points on the board it would be cool. But you know whatever. Its just kind of a cool thing. Over all this is the best forum I have ever been to with the best advice and the kindest posters.
Turning on reputation posts is definitely an option but I don't see the point in this. I think this has the possibility to do more harm than good but if you can enlighten me on the benefits of this, I would definitely be open to this.
I'm not really sure. I think it's based on a lot of things such as post count but members have the ability to give other members reputation points. Each reputation level comes with a different user title (kind of like Weekend Duffer, Golf Enthusiast, etc.) I believe. It does sound fun but I still think it could cause more harm than benefit.
I think that reputation levels could breed resentment: Why does X have more reputation points than I do? I think I'll try to discredit him by pointing out the errors in his facts, logic, grammar, etc. There is a danger. I'm sure that there is a upside to the concept, but I'm not sure that it's worth the potential problems.
This Rep points idea does seem like it would lead to competition among members. Other than contests started and supported by Victor, I think we should stick to the "team theme" we have going and not have members competing against each other for points. Let's not invite trouble. JMO
Yeah the Team Theme works well. Well when the rep syetem works properley it lets new members kind of know who really knows their stuff. But other than that and just the fact that the rep system is fun their are not many other benefits to it.
With all of the knowledgeable posts and honesty here, it is pretty easy to determine who knows what they are talking about (Pretty much everybody). I like the current system and the rep points sounds to me like kind of a popularity contest.
