Just a quick question, how exactly did we manage to get 285 users online yesterday at 10:36 am? Is that a mistake or were there really that many people here all at once? I noticed before that the record was one-something on July 15, presumably during the British Open, but what would cause that many people coming in yesterday?
Could it be a case of "numbers fudging" on the Golf Rewind board?? No, it couldn't be, could it? This is serious business, there could be scandals and shameful resignations before this is said and done!
It has to do with the number of spiders from all the different search engines on the net. Look in the active user block next time you see the number of users online up and click on "Active Users" you will be able to see alot of the guests are search engine spiders.
Yes, all of those visitors are actually search engine spiders. Well, not all of them but I think it's safe to say most of them. They're merely here to index all of the content on the forum. Then, when someone searches for, let's say "SMT driver opinions," a post from Golf Rewind may show up as a search result.
In the future, I'll try to find some way to keep spiders off of the online now list. After that, I can reset the "most users online" count.
Even so this is still the greatest forum on the internent
Appreciate that, Halk. I agree that this place is special. I was a lurker here before joining, and now I'm happy to work for free with people I've never met (face to face) and help victory achieve his vision of a family-friendly forum where people practice the golden rule.
