Re: WTB: Titleist 690mb or 695mb

I have a set of 690 MB irons that I bought when they first came out. I paid $999. Gawd they were pretty when they were new! I am considering getting some new irons. I will probably just trade them in at Golf Galaxy, but I don't know how much they would give me for them.

These iron puppies have been put to a lot of use. Since keeping track as of 2005 using my golf site I have entered 300 scores (187 18 hole rounds). They all have the original grips except the 9 iron (replaced after removing a vibration dampener that came loose).

I could use these irons for another several years just as they are. They are great clubs. I just like new toys every now and then.

Here is a photo from about a year and a half ago.

Re: WTB: Titleist 690mb or 695mb

Very cool...owning a first set of clubs is something to really look forward to. I used my dad's set for 20 years before buying my own hehe. I've since spent lots of money on clubs.

I sent a PM before this...here is some more info

These are clubs that pros would use. You can't get much better, but they are not designed to be forgiving. For this type of club I find them relatively easy to hit, though. They are easier to hit than earlier similar models from Titleist. My instructor could tell compared to his older set.

I had no problem at all switching to them at the time, though. My clubs were completely different before this set. I was hitting them just fine the first time at the range the day I bought them.

My guess is that the much newer 695 MB model is a little easier to hit than the 690 MB model. A set of 695 MBs at a great price is a much better find than an older set of 690 MBs.
