SF playing Options

SF golfers, what would be the most reasonable way to play Golf regularly in the bay area? Like in NY tri-state area, I heard getting onto public course over there is brutal. Also as in NY, joining a private course can be not only very expensive but also needs a long waiting period not to mention a qualification requirements ( Winged Foot still has 10 year wait ). I don't need tour quality courses but I love fast greens. Where do you play ( public/Private/Resort)? I want to play at least 1-2 times a week without breaking my bank account and not to drive more than 1 hour from SF airport if possible.
