This may be a wild, crazy idea, but why not just get a belly putter without jumping though all these hoops?
Belly putter heads weigh a bit more so you can feel the putter head swinging at longer lengths. You could get away with that.
You could lengthen you shaft and use a belly putter grip or build your own with regular grips.
-Find a used or broken shaft.
-Remove the old grip.
-Sharpen the butt of the shaft.
-Insert a grip until you reach the butt of the grip, turn the sharpened butt end of the shaft until the plug of the grip cuts off.
-Lengnthen the the putter shaft as neccesary.
-Insert some weight down the shaft to compensate a bit for weight.
-Wrap the shaft with double side tape. apply grip solvent and slip the grip down to the desired right hand position.Remove uncecessary grip tape.
-Take another gip and cut about 5 inches from the bottom.
-Install the grip on the butt end of the putter.
Simp20, RMB is Right On regarding the putter build. I built mine the same way. One thing to remember. Start out with the shaft a little longer and cut it bit by bit until you have it the exact length you're looking for. I cut my extension too short on first try and had to start over again. I put a full length putter grip on the extension part and chucked it into my drill. I cut it using a serated knife while the shaft was rotating at a slow speed. I prepped the shaft and glued it in. I weighted my putter head with lead tape on the outside, but down the shaft looks better.
