RE-shaft x-12's

I currently own a set of Callaway x-12's, which I have had for about the last 6 years. They still have the original Memphis 10 shafts in them but I feel like they may be working against me. I play an 8 iron at 150 and mistakes are always left of the target. The irons are adjusted 2 degrees upright. Bottom line are 3 main questions I have.
Question 1: I am wondering what people's opinions are of the memphis 10 shaft?
Question 2: if I am convinced that re-shafting is necessary is it worth it vs trading it in on a new set of X-18's?
And finally,
Question 3: Assuming it is worth it what would be your shaft choice to re-shaft it with?

I've never played the original Memphis 10 shaft on any club but I've heard that it wasn't that great a shaft. The Constant Weight shaft that came with the X-14's is a really good shaft, IMO. I have a set and have always liked them. Can't answer your question on the X-18's, sorry. I do have a set of X-12's with graphite but that doesn't help you. I do like the X-12 and think that if you could put the right shaft in them, you would be happy. I've heard all the hype about not being able to work them but I find that not to be true. They can be played with a draw, fade, or straight just as well as any forged club out there. It's the swing that does it no matter what club you have in your hands. I truly wish I could be more help but I would certainly suggest that you look at shaft options before moving on to another club if you have been hitting them well. Have a great weekend.

Jerry, thanks for taking time to offer your opinion. I guess I will just have to look at the dollars and cents at replacing vs new. I have been happy with the distance and general feel of the club. So re-shafting is a good possibility. I have just assumed that that a steel shaft is better than a graphite. You said you have the x-12's in graphite and the x-14's in steel, if you were going to get a new set would the be steel or graphite?

For me, graphite, but only because of the arthritis in my right hand. I need the softer feel. For you, unless you have a problem similar to mine, I would stay with steel. There are a number of options that I believe would work in your X-12's. Talk to a clubfitter. If you feel you really want something new I would look at the X-14's before any of the newer ones. They are a good club, many people, including pro's, are playing them and they can be had brand new for a really good price, guessing $300-$400 US. Probably better off of ebay. Best of luck and have a great weekend.
