Regular Flex or Stiff for distance ???

I currently play with a stiff flex driver but if I switch to a regualr felx will I gain more distance??? I have a pretty smooth swing and I usually hit the driver well but I am just wondering if this will add anymore distance? Thanks!!

Please indicate driver swing speed, 5-Iron swing speed, how far you carry these 2 clubs and what you are using now. It will help.

What's the length of your driver...if you are playing standard, which is about 44 1/2", adding some length to it will give your distance a boost...perhaps going to say 46" or so, I've messed with longer drivers in the past and it worked, however, be careful that it doesn't translate into changing your normal swing as you'd start to flatten out your swing when messing with drivers built over 46" or so...caution there.

depends how fast you swing it. also how you load it. you say you're pretty smooth. that's working for you.
you probably would gain some length, as long as you keep in mind one company's r flex is anothers x or l flex. don't sacrifice control for distance. it's a bad tradeoff.
i have a stick that most fitters would say was too stiff for me. however i can fly it 240 wherever i want. hitting fws & close approaches are the two most important things in this game.
anyways, good golfing to you.

You will probably gain some distance, but you may sacrifice some control. All you can do is try it and see. A question like this always makes me ask if you have been fitted. A proper fitting would answer most of the questions being posed to you in here.

Typically less flex you will gain more distance but lose some control. That is "typically" you can get the flex to wimpy and lose distance too. Getting fitted is the answer.
