club lengthening query

I am extending my putter on my own and I have a quick question. The piece of shaft that i am using as the extension rattles a bit if you tap the putter on the ground..what can I do to stop the rattle?

edit-
I haven't connected the two pieces together yet, nor have I regripped it yet. I can still pull the extension out and adjust that.

First, make sure the extension is all the way in as far as it will go into the shaft. To do it right you should use shaft epoxy, however, for a putter I think that the double sided tape and grip will probably solve the problem since the putter sees very little force applied. Be very careful about aligning the grip with the face of the putter else you may be stroking with the face open or closed unless you compensate. Best of luck.

I planned on using epoxy. I was thinking that just applying tape to the end of the extension would do it. we'll see. my grip has to come in first before i can start in on that portion.

fixed the problem. I cut a lot of the excess off of the extension shaft. I had just butt trimmed it before. I trimmed it from the tip and gave it a few inches to fit in and secure...just need my grip now....yippie..!!
