Reshafting TM R7

Hi,
I am new to this site...but really like it so far. My question is: I have been doing the Golfsmith deal of assembling components, etc. I have a TM R7 with factory M.A.S. shaft. I am strongly considering reshafting this with one of the shafts in Golfsmith. (I have my selection narrowed down to about 3). What challenges, if any can I expect to encounter? I am hoping it is just a matter of pulling the stock shaft and reshafting with the new one. The guys at Golfsmith told me something about "sleeving" the replacement shaft. Any one out there who can help me out here? Thanks in advance!

What he means by sleeving is putting some sort of shim around the shaft tip because the tip of the Taylor Made is larger than a standard .335 shaft. Probably a .350 tip shaft. I haven't actually had the chance to put the calipers on the tip of an R7 so I don't know the exact size.

Other than that, I don't forsee any problems. I probably would take the weights out just to make sure they didn't get damaged, but other than that it should be fairly easy.

Well...an update here...I reshafted my R7 with a GD YS-6+....350 tip. I ordered the .350 tip adapter...but could NOT get the shaft in with it on. Out of frustration mainly, I threw the adapter in the trash, mixed my epoxy with a decent helping of glass beads...and slid er on. I'll trim to length today, grip it...and in 30 minutes or so find out what happens! The shaft did seem to be a good fit without the adapter...it was one of those with the ferrule built in...and I'm sure I didn't know for sure the procedure for installing it...but we'll see.

Well...last update on this: The driver worked out fine. I don't think the YS-6+ shaft was any better than the stock M.A.S., MAYBE a little longer since it seems to produce a little lower trajectory now, but would not recommend this shaft as a replacement.

Did you spend all that $$ and time without hitting a club with that shaft first?
