What's the difference between round and rib grips?

Hello,
I was looking at ordering some grips so I can try my hand at changing them. I saw that some said "round" and another "rib". I have no idea what the difference is, if someone could enlighten me, I'd appreciate it very much. Thanks.

there is a big diffrence in the round and ribbed grips. the round are just a regular round grip where the ribbed grips have a "bump" on the back of them that sticks out once you put it on the club. you wont be able to tell the diffrence when its not on the club so choose wisely.

So, this is just a preference thing, right? I don't think I'd want ribbed for my irons - it would feel weird when trying to shape a shot, I'm guessing. But what about a driver? Any recommendations? I think my Callaway driver and 3 wood have that bump, and I don't really try to shape shots with those.

yeah it is just preference... i dont prefer ribbed grips on any of my clubs, it kind of gets in the way. i reccomend the golf pride tour velvet grips there are like 3 diffrent sizes depending on your hand size. i have the regular golf prides on all of my clubs. you just have to find what you like.

Ribbed is for more...well never mind. I don't have ribbed grips so I can install them upside down and not see any graphics or have a rib interfering with shaping shots or hitting flops...

Ribbed grips have a spine in them and if properly installed allow for your fingers to fit into the little slot created by them on the underside of the grip. I have them on my fairway woods and it's just a little easier to grip these clubs for me...just a matter of preference.
