wood and iron grips

1: Should the grips on woods and irons be the same? I have never used the same make of woods and irons, so the grips were always different for me.

After reading some threads here, I am come to the conclusion that my 8 year old or so clubs are in dire need of grip changes (they were getting mighty slippery). They were the stock old school ping grips.

I'm thinking about going down the velvet tour road. I'm not sure what my previous grip's size or weight is, but there's a "cheap" group buy for the tour velvets. ( TVM rubber buffed ribbed 49.5grams) a dozen for about USD50. That's unheard of prices here... a single grip usually retails for about USD20.

2: Would that 49.5 gram grip be alright for a player like me?
I'm 6', swing pretty quick, and my 6 irons go about 180 yards or so.

3: Many mentioned chemicals and gasoline as lubricant, but I want to know if zippo lighter fluids would work as well, since I can't really get a lot of the things that are mentioned here that easily. Not in small quantities anyhow.

4: As for the double sided tape, could I use any double sided tape that is sold in stationery stores? Don't think I can get that carpet tape thingy.

Hope that's all I need.

Oh, and I got no vise at home...darn... no place to install one even if I bought one..double darn...
