Well, like the title says, I just built my very first club. I bought most of the components off of Ebay. I've been doing some research and studied the procedure and finally built the club today. It's only a sandwedge but I have to start somewhere. Now I can't wait until tomorrow. Hopefully this will help knock a few strokes off my score.
So, how did you do with the new SW? Building clubs isn't very hard, you just have to know what you're doing and spend enough time to get everything right the first time. What do you think of club builder? Going to do it again?
That's cool, I did so with a driver recently, like you said did the prep work and followed instructions and you're good to go, also nice to have the right tools on hand too!
Believe it or not, I think it played pretty nice. My biggest handicap is chipping, and this wedge helped me with my chipping game. I built another wedge for a friend of my mothers and he loves it. He is an older fellow in his late 60s and his swing speed is not like it usd to be. I've read that having graphite shafts will help increase your swing speed, so I built his wedge with a graphite shaft. As far as having the right tools, being a gunsmith, I have every tool that I needed. I did have to buy the double sided tape and grip solvent though. I haven't taken the club builder class yet. I called my local Golfsmith store but was told that they do not have a class scheduled because that don't have a full time club builder to teach the class. They told me to check in from time to time to see if a class has been scheduled. I guess for now I'll have to resort to building them myself, it's working out good so far.
