Question graphite torque factor in irons

Hi,

I'm in the market for new irons. I'm a high handicap golfer and don't get a great amount of hip turn or weight shift due to complications from a car accident a few years ago. I'm seriously considering senior flex graphite shafts in nike slingshots or slingshot clones but I'm not too sure about the torque rating on graphite shafts. Is the higher the number the less amount of torque and twisting that you can expect or is it the opposite way? Also, to get a higher shot trajectory do you want a mid kick shaft or low kick shaft?

Thanks so much for your help

Gary

Cool

The higher the torque rating, the more the shaft will twist. For reference, steel shafts have a torque rating from 1.8*'s to 2.2*'s. Much better than all but the most expense graphite shafts. If you want a higher ball flight, you want a lower kick/bend point in the shaft. Softer flex will also give you a higher ball flight. I hope this helps.

Thanks One Putt....It helped a lot. I had no idea that there were so many variables with the graphite shafts. I've always used steel. But another injury that took place in the car wreck was a compound fracture to my left forearm. From what I've read, the graphite should also help ease the stress here too.

Thanks again
