Your Input on these 2 Drivers

I have been building clubs for about 3 years now and find it very rewarding, not only in the pleasure of building clubs but seeing my game improve in all areas.

I at this time need to push the envelope as it pertains to the driver off the tee.

I put together the following driver two years ago and it has worked out quite well.

Head- Power Play 450cc (taylormade clone) 10.5
Shaft- Harrison Classic Lite Low Launch - torque 3.9 - 70 grams - Reg flex - High bend point - playing length 47" - I average 260 drives with a 280 every now and then. I have changed to a flatter swing plane which has helped my tempo and squaring at address. I hit the ball straight consistently. I also have a Bang club I made with a 9 degree so I have no problem getting the ball in the air. I know I can improve my distance so I want to build another driver to fit my swing.

Here is what I have come up with:

Head - SMT 455 Deep Bore - 9 degree
Shaft - Accuflex VS339 - torque 2.8 - 67 grams - Reg flex - Mid bend point - playing length 48".

How about some input on this change and also any tips on how to get more distance off the tee be it equipment or technique. Any ideas on what other shafts and heads to increase distance. I play at a 9 handicap now. I used to play at a 4 handicap in my younger days. Always looking to improve my game.

Thanks...

Cool

At your skill level and handicap, I'd recomment you hit some balls on a launch monitor and find out your ball speed and launch angle. With that information, the shop should be able to recommend some changes if any are needed to improve your carry distance off the tee. Take some of your normal golf balls for the test, so you have all the data you need.

I've played the 400cc version of the Power Play and it's a very nice driver indeed. The combination you're looking at could be very nice for you if you can handle going from 47" to 48" and have it not affect the rest of your game by flattening out your swing to much because of the driver.

I know this can happen because it happened to me while I was experimenting a few years ago with too long a driver for me, my swing worked itself into too flat for the irons and was a carry over from trying to hit the driver....so be cautious of that.

As far as the combination goes those are two very good components you're looking at there...why not give it a whirl...
