Navel Jelly will remove rust, you can get it at a hardware store.

A couple of weeks ago I used the "cola" method to remove some tarnish that had built up on an old Anser putter. I poured the coke into a container, immersed the putter head in it for about 24 hours, and then cleaned it up. Worked great.

This might be extreme if you only have a hint of rust in a spot or two.

An hour or less would've probably been plenty of time. Always has been when I use the Coke method to remove a little rust or tarnish.
