Hi Blade and welcome to Golf Rewind, the Winn's are nice, but expensive and durability is a factor...I've not had them last too long and wasn't worth the price IMO.

Have you tried Golf Pride Tour Velvet's? They're a really good grip for a good price...give them a look at and they come in 1/16 oversize too.

The G8's are a good grip for sure. They will need to be replaced more often than other grips however. I would say they would be a good option for you since you need an oversized grip. They come in much lighter than most oversized grips so your swingweight will be less affected. Good luck to you!

What do you think of the cheap tour velvets, like the 2-3 dollar variety. What will the difference be between these and the 7-8 dollar tour velvet cord grips?

I think the price difference has to do with them being cords. The velvets that I play are the plain jane tour velvets. Not the cords. I believe they were around $5 a pop. I don't like the cord grips. I don't think they give any more grip that the regular velvet grips and they really tear the gloves up too. Nothing gained in my book. JMO though. Simp

There are many makes and models of grips to choose from. First off you must understand that a grip WILL affect the way you hit the ball. If your grip is too large you will be prone to hitting to the right. If your grip is too thin you will be prone to hitting to the left. If you are going to hit alot of range balls the rougher cord grips will tear up your hands very quickly and the softer grips will wear our very quickly. Some of the more common grips are the GolfPride Tour Wrap and Tour Velvet. I prefer GolfPride New Decade multi-compound grips. They are a little more expensive but I feel they are well worth the price. If you don't mind me asking, Why do you believe you need an oversized grip? Good luck and enjoy your time at Golf Rewind.

Another one to look at that come with Velvet and sligtly Corded is the Sharpro Grips. Great grips and the Colors have made them Popular this golf season. All my clubs have these on them.

You can get them in Orange, Black, Grey, Blue, Yellow, Burgundy, Red, and Green.

Sharpro's are great grips, I really like them, pleases the best of both worlds, cord, velvety touch, and color (if you want it). Another one I really like is Star Grips. Very, very durable, a proprietary compound that will last for years. One piece injection molded, made in USA, guaranteed. Everytime someone tells me they "have to have" GP Tour velvets for example (2 pieces, molded together, and then have to sanded down to hide the seam), I put a Star Sidewinder in there hands. I have NEVER sold a velvet after doing that. The usual statement to follow is, "I can't afford a grip like that". That's when I pull out a dime and give it to them. I'll pay for the upgrade for the first club, you pay the rest, ha ha! I love this stuff!!

I personally prefer the Golf Pride Cord grips (tour velvet cord, tour wrap cord, and V-55 cord) I don't mind the standard velvets, but up here, they seem to get slippery when they get wet, plus, they wear out too fast... the cord ones last forever.
