tired of playing bad golf
I just read a book on golf club making. Author was Tom Wishon. Very interesting, it completely turned my thinking around as far as buying off the rack or buying clubs on e-bay and hoping they will turn my game around. I decided to build myself a set of irons. Surely if I built a set with my characteristics, my swing speed and tempo in mind I would have a set of clubs I could count on. It took me about a month to build , all clubs swingweighted the same, proper length and proper grip. I don't hit the ball any better than before. I went out today and the best club in my bag was a 3wood, bought on e-bay. Very frustrating.

Give yourself a break, I don't think a set of clubs will be a magical cure to drop one's score a moderate amount the first time out. Remember, you have to adjust to them, give them a chance and also, take some of the pressure off that you're putting on yourself...relax, job well done on your clubs!

Don't be too hard on yourself. It can be frustrating with a new set of clubs. Today, I took a brand new set of Tommy Armour 845FS irons to the course...for the first 5 holes I couldn't hit a bull in the butt with a bull fiddle. The new irons are graphite shafted and a lighter flex than my old Cleveland TA-6. They are quite a bit lighter in weight, too. But by the last several holes, I had finally got them grooved pretty nicely and was hitting some nice long 4 iron shots. They might just replace the Clevelands, which have a heavier head and a steel shaft. I am going out in the morning for another 18 holes with them. You just have to take your time and get in the groove. I do my best with a slow takeaway and not trying to kill the ball. The Armours are a bit longer too. I think the lighter weight of them helps me swing faster, and so the ball goes farther than with the Clevelands.
