driver shaft extension

I am 6'3" and am wanting to put an extension in my driver that is standar 45". How long of an extension can I get away with w/o messing up the swingweight and balance and all that stuff? I was thinking of adding about an inch. Also, are there any disadvantages to this?

An increase of 1 inch will add 6-8 swingweights. You can offset this some by going to a heavier grip or add a counter balance to the butt end. Hope this helps.

Yes, agree with ForgedRbest's advice...I play my drivers 46" fo rthe most part, some are 45", but they have heavier 80+ gram shafts in them, the 46" drivers are with 65g shafts in them, all feel about the same to me.

What would you do to the butt end to counter the weight besdies a heavier grip? would wrapping lead tape around the shaft just below the grip do it? Or even put small amounts under the grip?

They have a system on the market, the name escapes me right now, but it slips into the butt of the shaft and you screw in different size brass weights. It will increase the overall weight of the club, but the balance will be restored.

The easiest way to do this is to get one of the New C Force Grips from Golf Smith. (We sell them on built clubs but not seperately).

Here is the link. http://www.golfsmith.com/products/181750
