trimming graphite shafts....

....when you trim a graphite shaft , .335 , on the tip , it makes the shaft a stiffer flex , correct ? What is the most that you can trim off ? I want to trim about 1 1/2 inches off of the shaft, is that too much? I swapped shafts on a hybrid component , and went to a steel shaft. When I heated the head to pull the shaft , I think I heated it up a little too much , and need to get past a spot that I think may be a weak spot. Am I making sense ? Anyone help me on this ? , thanks to all in advance.

The amount available to trim varies with each shaft. You should be safe with an inch and half, however it will be significantly stiffer.

..............................thanks , Slicer. I don't think I need to go past 1 1/2 inches. I didn't think I got the head as hot as I did. The shaft weakened at about 1 inch from the tip.
