Shaft Replacement ?

I'm thinking of exchanging my soft regular shaft in my driver to regular. Both my 3 (callaway vft) and 5 (ping) woods are regular shaft and I hit them very long and straight. I like the overall feel of my driver but feel I could get more distance out of it perhaps by going to a regular shaft. It currently has the ping tfc 100 soft regular shaft. My ping 5 wood has the ping tfc 100 regular and if feels great.

Any recommendations and ballpark cost estimates?

What kind of swing speed are we talking? How about tempo?

Just for the record, all the charts in the world say I should use a R flex, but I hit a S flex much better. What I'm saying...if it feels better - use it!

That's pretty much an R flex shaft, but remember all R flex shafts are not created equal so you have to try it...

Found a Simple Solution

After some good advice from GR, I consulted my club pro and discovered a few things. First my swing speed is about 85. We tried a number of different regular shafted drivers and when we were done he had me hit my 3 wood (the Callaway VFT regular shaft which I had contended all along that I am hitting longer and straighter than my Ping Driver). Sure enough, I killed the 3 wood in our session.

I told him I had the companion Callaway VFT driver, so what we did is put the Callaway VFT shaft in my Ping G2 Driver, and WOW, what a difference!

I had always felt that I was talked into something that was wrong for me when I was sold the ladies soft regular shaft in the G2. I have always played mens regular clubs (I'm 5' 8", and pretty athletic). I learned a valuable lesson this time around in buying clubs.

The first time out with my converted driver I hit every fairway, averaging a
ten to fifteen yard gain on every drive. I couldn't ask for much more than that!

I realize this is probably an unconventional approach, but it worked for me. Sometimes simple is best!
