Which shaft?

I have three drivers at the moment. One, an R7 with a Fujikura Vista Tour 60 X. Two, a 905T with a grafalloy blue S and three, a TEE with a Fuji ZCOM MW54 S. The zcom is too whippy for me, so I'm going to go for something stiffer. I have no launch monitor info at all, but will be getting some in the spring time.

In the meantime, I'd like to put something else in the TEE. The other two shafts are both pretty well suited although the 905T with the grafalloy produces too much spin (based on ball flight). The zcom produces about the right amount of spin with the TEE head, so I am looking for a not too expensive shaft that would have the spin characteristics of the zcom and the flex characteristics of the grafalloy, but inserted in the TEE rather than the 905T. The 905T is a full bore thru, so I suspect the blue is pretty stiff.

Any help much appreciated. If the shaft you can suggest is an Accuflex, so much the better.

Thanks

Cool

Never heard of a TEE driver, so I can't offer much help on this. But what I would recommend is that you try a few different TEE drivers with a few shafts that you think might work and are in the price range you are looking at.

TEE is Tour Edge Exotics. Getting hold of a few is not going to be an option as it is not released yet in the UK. I got mine from the US. I suspect that the shaft playability will be similar to the R7, so my question really is which Accuflex shaft would play like the Fuji Vista Tour 60 in X flex. Do I want an X in the evolution or an S?

In the Evolution, I would go S. This is a great shaft. I originally had an X (115ss) and quickly returned it for an S..sooo much better. Soon after that I began reading all the reviews about how it plays much stiffer than stated flex. IMO, this would be the closest to the VT in the accuflex line. The Icon v.2 in an X would be my second choice. Both are beautiful shafts.

I've gone through a similar process as you. I even hit other manufacturers drivers with the various shafts, (fuji's, GDI, aldilas, etc.) to get a feel for the shafts and the sales guys let me use their monitors for more info, (launch angle speed, etc.). This helped me get to 2-3 shaft choices that felt good.

I then called each company's customer service #, and spoke to their technician. I relayed my feelings and asked the difference between the company's aftermarket shaft and the oem "made for by-----" shaft. Each rep/tech I talked to was forthcoming with additional info to consider that was helpful.

I settled for a shaft based on what I wanted to improve over my existing set-up. The best part maybe was the info on how to best tip/cut the shaft to get a flex centered on my swingspeed, (98-102 mph over 10 day-3 different places). I've always been between reg. and stiff. Worth a try?

I would definitely recommend the AccuFLEX Evolution in the S-Flex. Great Shaft that is similar to the Grafalloy but with the Nano Composite and still give you good spin.

Thanks Christian (and others for advice). Is that true even though in the 905T there is quite a significant bore thru while in the Exotics there isn't?

Yes I would second the Evolution. However the specs of the Evo are not the same as the ZCOM. The Evo will give you less spin rate for sure. It is not whippy at all and the feel is very good. The torque is much lower then in the ZCOM and the Evo is weights more.

I play a TEE 10.5 w/ Fuji High Launch 55 mid kick ..3.5 tq flex s.. set at 44 inches length. For me it is incredible. I demo'd most all the drivers available and though all were good pieces, the Exotics has something in feel, distance and accuracy that makes it special. I am 65, 5'8 and 140 lbs, and have decent swing, (Speed Unk). I like being On the fairway when I drive and. 240-250 yds is fine with me.

I assume you are a lot younger, so I would reco a Fuji Tour type series X flex.

Enjoy!
