When you regrip your clubs...

do you use the same grips for your woods as your irons? I am just curious how you guys do it. I personally regripped my irons with some Winn grips and left my woods with the tour velvet's. They feel very different, that was my intention, to have a different feel with my irons from my woods. Also used the winn's on my wedges. So what's your regrip preference?

Are you doing the regripping yourself? You would want to be sure you have selected the proper size. The Pro I go to says improperly fitted grips can affect how well you strike the ball. Apparently your fingers should miss touching your palms by 1/16".

Several years ago, I had my old set regripped and extended to make them longer to accommodate my height. In doing so, this caused my driver to be out of balance, i.e., the grip end of the club now out weighed the head, making it much harder to "feel" the strike.

By the way, if you use soap and water on your grips every few rounds they will retain their new grip stickiness for years.

Like you I use different grips on my woods and irons. My woods are built up 1/16th of an inch more to give a "stronger feel," whereas I want more "touch" with the irons so the grips are thinner.

I always regrip all my clubs myself. It's ez and why waste money paying someone to do it. I like oversized grips and I put 2 wraps of tape under the grip to give it a better "feel" I found that using hoppes gun solvent is the best. solvent to use.

I just regripped all my clubs with Wynn G7...I like to have the same feel thru out the set. Don't need to second guess on the feel of the club.

I like them all to feel the same except the driver, I put 2 wraps of build up tape under that grip but it is the same grip as the others...I do the gripping myself.

Pitcher,

i just read that you should use dish soap as you need a cleaning solution that leaves no oily residue.

they also said to roughen them up with a low or fine grit sand paper. this will make them as good as new.

I've got the same grip on all the clubs - Golf Pride dual durometer mid-size. My understanding is that two extra wraps under a regular-size grip gets them to mid-size, without some of the extra weight of a mid-size grip.

Dishwater solution works good for grips because of its de-greasing properties - just make sure they are rinsed off adequately and towel-dried. Its amazing how much sweat can accumulate on a grip in the course of a few humid Summer rounds.

I also find it fun to re-grip myself.

I've found that regular old bleach works well for cleaning grips . it also makes them feel tacky again.

I just recently regripped my driver with a WINN Classic grip, however I don't think I would put those on my irons. It just feels right on my driver. I'm thinking of doing my 3 & 5 woods with the classics also but not my irons. I think I'm going to go with the G8 grips on the irons and wedges.
