Changing grips

For you expert club repairers :

I have a set of Callaway irons that came with corded grips - I ordered 'standard' expecting rubber but it turns out corded is standard on the x18 pro series.... Anyway, I have a set of Tour Wrap grips to replace them with - here is my question :

I weighed the Tour Wrap grips on a lab balance - they weigh anywhere from 51 to 54 grams. Should I put the lightest ones on the long clubs or on the wedges, or does that few grams of difference not really matter?

I don't think it should make muchof a difference, but if you think it would then put the heavier grips on your heavier clubs, aka wedges and up.

I agree. 3 grams is not alot of weight, especially up at the top of the club. If you can tell the difference then good luck at the Honda Classic next week because all of the pro's will be there! (sarcastically kidding of course!)

Speaking of very minimal changes to golf clubs...Raymond Floyd once had his grips replaced at a tournament and he specifically told the tour van guys that he wanted 2 wraps of tape. After Raymond left, one of the guys made a bet that Raymond, or anyone else, could not tell the difference between 1 or 2 wraps of tape and that he would prove it.

He put the requested 2 wraps of tape on all of his clubs except one. He put 3 wraps of tape on that club. The next day Raymond came to get all of his clubs and went to the range. About 20 minutes later Raymond comes back, hands the guy the club and says, "I said 2 wraps, not 3".

He lost the bet. Simp

I guess everything had to be just right to keep that unique swing in check
