I was thinking about reshafting my Vsteel 3 and 5 wood and looking for suggestions that won't cost huge $$.
I have the original Grafalloy Blue stiff shaft in my R5 dual and like the performance I get with it, but I am thinking i need a heavier shaft in the fairways.
Any suggestions?
Also, anyone know any clubfitters in the Boston/Southern NH area?
I was hoping to buy the shafts myself and then have someone install them for me but most of the retail places I have found want to sell me the shafts as well (and make quite a markup + labor)
about the only two ways to get this done at a lower cost is to go to the local golf courses and ask around to see if anyone does this as a hobbie like i do. many pro shops have people they use that do this on the side or learn how to do this yourself. it's really not that hard and before you know it , you end building your own clubs.
shafts; if your using steel now, you definitely want to use a heavier shaft somewhere in the 75 gram to 90 gram because it will feel like your swinging a feather with a lighter shaft and it will mess you up. the graffaloy blue shaft is a fine shaft but only weighs 55 grams or so. shafts are measures for wieght at 46 inches so when they are cut down to fairway lenght, you'll lose a few grams. there are many shafts on ebay, but pay attention weight, flex, and tip size. you can go onto golfworks or golfsmith to check out shaft specifications which helps alot. mike
I had my 3 wd Vsteel reshafted today. It had Dynamic Gold Lite in stiff. I reshafted it with the Funikura Bonzai 85gr in stiff, CPM at 279. Should get my ball flight up some. Its a good feeling shaft in that head.
Mike, How's the accuracy with that NV-65? I just put a Prolaunch Blue 65 stiff in my driver and love it, but thought for some reason that 3-5 wood shafts were supposed to be heavier. I have the stock TM Stiff in my V-Steel and can neither control nor consistantly hit the thing so am looking for a better option.

It's absolutely fantastic. This is my first go at a club with an "upgrade" shaft, and it has shown me what a difference they make over stock shafts. I'm looking to get the same shaft in a driver and have basically stopped hitting my current driver, if that gives you any idea.
I've heard, too, that 65 is too light for a 3 wood shaft. All I can say is, it's phenomenally accurate, has tremendous feel and is loooooooooooooong.
Seriously, if you like the shaft in your driver, I'd go for it in the 3/5 woods. That's what I'm doing. (I have the stock 65-gram shaft in my driver now anyhow)
Mike, Just an quick update to this thread. I took the R65 shaft that I pulled from my driver and tip trimmed it 1 1/2 inches and then installed it in the v-steel and then butt cut it to finished length. Wow, what a difference and the weight seems about the same as the stock TM shaft, thanks again for the suggestion on the 65 gram shaft.....it rocks!
