tapping club head

A friend wants to try my driver. I told him yes but I would tape it up to prevent sky marks. What type of tape can you use so it will not take off the finish? Is regular clear packing tape alright to use. thanks.

I have used masking tape, they use this at our local pro shop when you try out clubs. I would go with the blue masking tape like they use for painting and on trading spaces, it sticks but comes of really nice and leaves no residue behind. Also, it would show the ball marks on the tape, so you can see if your hitting the sweet sport or not.

The blue tape is painters tape, you can find it at any hardware store (Home Depot, Lowes). Clubfitters have been using masking for years along with a lie board, lie boards are available a Golfsmith, Golforks..etc. They are basically a painted board, you could make one yourself.

i've used the packing tape and that has worked just fine for me . i cut a strip and lay it accross the topline so that it coversan half inch accross the face and a half inch accross the top and it's not distracting at all. the tape will peel right off as long as you don't leave it on there forever.
