Since you say they are new grips, they should easily be able to be removed by someone who regrips with an air compressor.

I agree that a compressor would do the trick, especially since the grips are fairly new. There are guys on this site that replace grips with a comprerssor. where are you located?

I am located in Battle Creek, Michigan. Thanks for the tip; I have a air compresser, if you could explane how to use it for the grip removal, maybe I could do it.

Removing grips using an air compressor is a real breeze... if the grips were installed by the same method. Grips installed the 'traditional' way with grip tape is a whole nother ball game. You have to get solvent into the grip through the vent hole and other places using a needle. Next, you need the proper attachment for your air hose and a PVC protector tube before you attempt this. Even then, I am batting way less than 0.500 in getting grips successfully blown off that are installed with grip tape. And so, if anyone has any useful suggestions to help raise the average a bit, please let us know!

The only thing really needed to remove grips with a compressor is a blow gun with a needle tip. I have three of them and the best is the one I purchased from Harbor freight tools. It is pistol shaped and has a tip that is about 2 inches in length and about an 1/8th " in diameter. This is best because the needle gives a nice snug fit in the grip hole and the pistol shape gives you more leverage when blowing grips on. In my opinion, the tube is not needed because it prevents you from seeing whats happening underneath it. To remove the grip, insert the needle into the back of the grip hole a place your opposite hand at the mouth of the grip. Now give short bursts of air and feel for an air bubble developing under the grip(the tube prevents you from seeing or feeling this and causes grips to blow up). If a bubble does develop, remove the air gun from grip hole and let air escape. If the grips are fairly new, the air should evenly expand the grip along the inside and blow grip off. If the grip is stubborn and an air bubble develops, pull and twist the grip as you blow air in to help loosen the grip on all sides. If and air bubble keeps developing, keep letting air escape and until youve loosened the entire inside and the grips comes off. If the grips have been on for years, you may have to just cut it off. Remember, the key to removing the grip is to give short bursts of air to control the air bubbles. If you just blow air into the grip, you will blow it up. I hope my explanation helps you out, if not let me know. To install grips using a compressor, first lubricate the mouth of the grip, eith with solvent or saliva. Now slip the grip over the end of the shaft and give short bursts of air into the grip. as the grip expands, push the grip onto the shaft, the is where the pistol shaped airgun comes in handy, it gives you extra leverage to push. You are basically pushing the grip on against the same air pressure used to expand the grip. Once you have the grip completely on, give a few more bursts of air to correctly align the grip. This method works either with tape or without.

Thanks for all your insight. I work in a machine shop. Last Saturday I tried (with success) using a air-hose; in the process of removing the grip, I came up with an idea for a tool. The device I made works great! I can even remove grips (without damaging them) with two sided tape under them. I would love to try and pantent this tool. All you have to do is slide it on the butt of the shaft, feed some air through it, and watch and wait; the air in the shaft will do the rest. It takes about five minutes to remove a grip with two sided tape under it. Thanks again for all your help.
